artists statement:

To create one sculpture I “build” with drawings. I am inspired by the metallic face of the city, the moving people, and landscape around me - they present opportunities and places to enrich the imagination with built expression. The forms take shape through sketching multiple viewpoints. I then “draw” with copper wire, putting together a framework with the material that builds on the energy of the hand-drawn lines.

Each new step of the work is a chance for ideas to show in unexpected ways, moving from sketch, to metal, to clay, and finally to metal casting.
